Welcome to West Virginia's official online hauling permit system. This site issues permits for oversize and overweight vehicles along state owned routes. This includes Interstate, Turnpike, US, WV, and County routes. Permits for local or city routes should be obtained from those respective agencies.
*** Electronic as well as paper copies of hauling permits are now valid for travel in West Virginia. ***
*** Permitted travel time policies have changed. Please see 'West Virginia Permit Information', under 'Reference Material', for details.***
*** ON THE GOTPERMITS ROUTING PAGE (MAP), THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE MADE REGARDING HOW YOU CAN GO FROM I-77/I-64 TO US-19 OR FROM US-19 TO I-77/I-64 IN RALEIGH COUNTY. ROUTING METHODS SHOULD NOW AUTOMATICALLY ROUTE USING EXIT 48 (US-19A) WHEN CONNECTING THESE TWO HIGHWAYS. AS A RESULT OF THIS CHANGE, TRIPS THAT PREVIOUSLY USED US-19A IN THE ROUTING WILL NO LONGER RELOAD WHEN YOU TRY TO COPY OR DUPLICATE PREVIOUS TRIP REQUESTS OR PERMITS. YOU MUST RE-SELECT YOUR ROUTES. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE, BUT THE CHANGE SHOULD MAKE MOVING BETWEEN THESE TWO HIGHWAYS MUCH MORE CONVENIENT IN ALL SUBSEQUENT TRIPS. ***
COMPANIES MOVING EQUIPMENT TO AND FROM STATE ROAD PROJECTS MAY ISSUE NO-COST PERMITS
If you are moving equipment to or from a state road project, you can enter the project number and (if the analysis passed) a permit can be issued at no cost. Please note that this applies to equipment only - not to materials - and that a valid project number must be entered (no purchase order numbers, contract numbers, etc.). Any inappropriate use of this feature may result in corrective measures being taken.
For instructions on How to Register, Login and Order Permits, go to https://wv.gotpermits.com/wvpass/golivefaqs.pdf
If you wish to use Chrome you must select the Map Off option in the Top navigation menu in order to proceed and define a trip without use of the graphical mapping interface.
